As I’ve previously shared, our Village Values are our guiding light. The values are how we live our lives at our Village. They're how and why Don, our founder, built this Village and they're the driver behind my passion for growing our Village while holding steadfast to the organization’s core, its heart, and its foundation.
Our second Village Value is Earn It Every Day, which I think represents the hardworking characteristics of our Villagers perfectly. It takes courage and commitment to be a community banker. Every day Village Bank’s community bankers come in ready to problem solve and achieve goals. Today our Village is earning it and I could not be prouder. As the President, I am watching our Villagers execute as problem solvers and financial partners to our local business owners.
I am blown away by the amazing things that entrepreneurs are doing in our communities from raising the bar in second-generation businesses to making the jump to turn a hobby they love into a career with a start-up business.
Earning it is tough. Earning it can feel like, “Haven’t I already done this?” and sometimes asking the question, “How many more times do I need to earn it?”
Earning it can also be an opportunity. Earning it can be a chance to show your preparation, your determination, and—my favorite—your grit. There is nothing wrong with persevering on the days you need to because you can.
