Village Values:

Put Relationships First

By Aleesha Webb

Simply put: Villagers are relational and loyal to our family, friends, customers, and business partners. Villagers are connectors, studying people to establish bonds. Villagers are open, forthcoming, and forthright.

When I came back home to Village Bank almost 2 years ago, my dad and our CEO, Don Kveton, and I began working on a values statement for Village Bank. Don has built his entire career on relationships and led with his values, so together we broke down his story and career, my story and career, and the story of our Village. We came up with these, our Village Values:

1. Put Relationships First
2. Earn It Every Day
3. Own It
4. Build Something Special
5. Do the Right Thing

These Village Values capture everything our Village is and wants to do, and I want to share them with the world, especially at this time of uncertainty. I’ll explain each of them one by one.

“Put Relationships First” is first because it’s Don’s passion, and without his first move to start Village Bank we wouldn’t be here. He started a bank with the purpose of creating relationships with entrepreneurs to give them the chance that other banks wouldn’t.

We still make sure that we’re doing this every day! Our Villagers and our customers come first. From bankers to tellers to operations, we know our customers, we know about our customers’ businesses, and we know about our customers’ goals.

We look beyond the numbers. The relationships we’ve created with our small business clients are valuable to us. We are committed to ensuring that we look at the person, not just the financials. While the security of our community bank is important to us when making loan decisions, we are committed to looking at deals that big banks will not because we consider the personal characteristics of our customers.

Simply put: Villagers are relational and loyal to our family, friends, customers, and business partners. Villagers are connectors, studying people to establish bonds. Villagers are open, forthcoming, and forthright.

If your business is looking for a community bank that puts relationships above all else, reach out to one of our community bankers so we can learn more about what matters to you and your business!
